On 10/7/64, police arrested Walter Jenkins with another man in a YMCA Men’s Room in D.C.
Walter worked for U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson since LBJ was a Congressman; his arrest three weeks before Election Day created the original “October Surprise” for his boss as a candidate for re-election — stunning DC and humiliating Johnson. Walter resigned in disgrace and lived quietly with his wife and children in Texas until his death in 1985. Imagined based on actual events.
